Holy Thursday

Holy Thursday

Author: Margus Veisveer

Holy Thursday, Jesus’ last Passover meal, last supper, the day of unity before suffering. The disciples prepared the Passover meal, and in the evening Jesus was with His disciples.

Jesus breaks the bread and offers wine.

Jesus is having His last meal with His disciples. And as they did eat, Jesus took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them, saying, This is My body which is given for you: Do this in My memory!

And He took the cup, and said, This is a new covenant in My blood, which is shed for you.

Jesus washed the disciples’ feet.

And when He was at supper, He arose from the supper, and laid aside His garment, and took a towel, and girded Himself. Then He poured water into a bowl and began to wash the disciples’ feet and dry them with the towel on His belt. Peter saith unto Him, Thou shalt never wash my feet.

If I don’t wash your feet, you have no part with me. And when He had washed their feet, and sat down again, He said unto them, If now I have washed your feet, ye also shall wash one another’s feet, because I have given you an example.

A servant is not greater than His lord, neither is He greater than He that sent Him. If you know this, you will be blessed if you do it as well.

Jesus gives the command to love.

I give you a new commandment: love one another!

As I have loved you, so ye also love one another. By this shall all men know that ye are My disciples, if ye have love one to another.

We are a part of Him and He is a part of us!
